The story "A Child Called It" begins with David Pelzer, a young kid, narrating the story of how he was abused by his mother. However, the story actually starts after all these events happen, when he is finally taken away from his mother by the police. David's teachers knew all along that he was being abused, but they werent able to do anything.... until that day, when they contacted the police.
That day, was the day David became free, the day on which he stopped beingg abused by his mother, the day he would stop suffering. A policeman took him away from his home, far far away, were his mother wouldnt be able to find him. However, we still dont know any of the background story about David and how he was abused.
Interesting Quotes
"Mother can beat me all she wants, but I havent let her take away my will to somehow survive." p4.
On this quote we can see how David isnt willing to give up, he wants to fight against his mother, he is persistent and brave, he has a strong personality.
"'David Pelzer' he says, 'you're free.'" p14
o On this quote, the police man is practically telling David that he doesnt need to stand up to his mother anymore, he is free from her abuse, and he can finally begin to have a better life.
Final Thoughts...
I just began reading this story and I am already liking it. It seems to be very interesting and now I cant seem to stop reading this. I am interested on what happened and the reason behind all the abuse from his mother and how his life was before the police man came to free him.
