Apparently, David's family was normal before. They traveled, made trips, they spent time together, there was no abuse, it seemed like a pretty good life. His mother was caring and she treated everyone in the family with love. The whole family seemed to be very united, his mother, father, and brothers are all really kind to him. However, something changed, and David's mother began to feel hatred toward him, but only him, not toward his brothers nor his father. Maybe it was because of alcoholism, or maybe it was another reason, I am still not sure because there is much information that I still havent read, but now we are understanding a little bit better why this whole situation began.
Interesting quotes
So David was actually part of a great family. Everything was "perfect" during that time, which means something drastic must have happened that changed EVERYTHING. But at least until then, he was just a member of a normal family.
"When I was four or five years old, Mom said she was sick, and I remember afeeling that she did not seem to be herself at all" p18
Maybe here is when David's mother began to change. Maybe she was not abusing of him YET but according to the book she became much more strict with David. I think this is were all starts.
Final Thoughts...
We are starting to understand how all this begin. Maybe we dont know the underlying cause but we surely know that something drastic happened and David's mom changed completely. Probably on the next few chapters we will begin to see how the big issue is really happening, but this is all for this post, dont miss the next one, on An Adventure On Every Page.
